Special Creative Writing and East Asia Workshop
Creative writing students enjoyed a fun, fascinating and dynamic workshop from Dr Will Buckingham. Will has a background in anthropology, fine art and philosophy, and currently teaches in creative writing. His work is inherently cross-disciplinary, taking place where philosophies and stories meet in unexpected and creative ways. He currently has strong interests in Chinese traditions of thought and creative practice. In 2010, he was awarded British Academy funding to undertake research in China towards his work-in-progress, A Book of Changes, a novel that explores the Chinese classic the Yijing (易經) as a ‘literature machine’.
Stories and academic papers stemming from this work in progress have already been published in a wide range of journals. He is currently working on various projects that explore crossings between Chinese and Western approaches to writing.
